Thanks again to everyone for your well-wishes, prayers and supportive e-mails.
Things are looking up. No one was even slightly injured at the BP Amoco plant, and if you've seen the video on Fox, you'll know just how large a blast it was.
Just last month, I worked only two blocks from that site.
My Dad's situation is looking better, too. He's still in for extensive tests, but the physical therapist says he won't even have to grind through her rehab routine. Amazing.
Even his vision is returning to normal. Prayers work.
I don't know if I can credit prayer for this, but my 'puter guru is putting a new modem into my PC. For free. I like that kind of price.
Now then, it's time I get off of this borrowed office PC and pretend I'm working again, but y'all surely do deserve to hear an update of good news after last night's post.
I surely am anxious to get back to full connectivity on the boat. Blogging will once again be fun, when I've the luxury of uninterrupted time to converse with you here.
Which, will be soon.
As you know, I am only a few miles from BP. My mother, two sisters and a brother-in-law work there. Luckily no one was working when it happened and miraculously no one was injured at all.
I was sitting on my couch when I felt a low rumble and my patio doors started shaking like someone was banging on them.
I called my mother to see if she felt it and she had. A few minutes later, I looked out of the patio door and could only see a small patch of sky but what I did see was bright orange and all I could say was "Holy Shit!"
I've lived in this town long enough to know when the sky is that color after the windows shaking, you KNOW it's trouble.
I've also lived in this town long enough to know it's not always as bad as it seems.
It was definitely a miracle that no one was even injured.
My mom was inundated at work this morning with citizens saying they were "exposed" to the chemicals released in the fire.
These people piss me off. There WERE no chemicals released in the fire.
Everyone's trying to make a buck.

Hi Jim,
Glad to see you posting again. I took nearly a week off myself, so I'm just now catching up.
...I've been MEANING to e-mail you, really I have... ; )

Jim,
I am sorry things have been so rough for you lately. I have missed our little talks...obviously, I haven't blogged in almost a month...nor have I emailed or called you recently. Things are quite hectic here, as well. So, I guess we are in the same boat...LOL.
You are on my mind and in my prayers. When things settle down for me...and hopefully that will be soon...I will be back in touch more frequently. Please know that you are not alone...
Always,
Dana

My Dad was just at that very same BP Amoco only a few days earlier, too. My spine could freeze water right now.
Sorry I haven't been around lately, I've been an incorrigably lazy shit. ;-)

Hey there, Brother James:
Welcome back to the world (and you could say the same to me, after my trip to Europe and Chile).
Give my very best to yer Dad, and drop me a line sometime.
