Fair warning.
Do not read this at your desk at work. Your co-workers will wonder what's got you crying in the middle of the day.
From Blackfive's site, and here's his introduction to the article. Given that one cannot improve upon perfection, I've copied it here for you:
The following is Marine Lieutenant Colonel Strobl's account of escorting the remains of Lance Corporal Chance Phelps. It's a long and beautifully written and it deserves to be read in it's entirety. It's about Valor, Honor and Respect. Thanks to Jarhead Dad for sending it to me.
You'll have some idea of the importance and impact Lt. Col. Stobl's report, when you let this small fact sink in; .....My link to the story is the seventy-third trackback to Blackfive's post. No. Not seventy-three comments... that's seventy-three other blogs who have refered their readers to this account.
Incredibly powerful, and moving.
Thanks to Matt (Blackfive) for the post.
And eternal gratitude to Lance Corporal Chance, his family, and the people of his hometown.
May we ever honor their sacrafice.
I felt, after reading the article, the same way as Lt. Col. Strobl did. I miss Lance Corporal Chance Phelps, also.

Thanks for the link. I don't often cry but that had me doing it. Sent the link to a friend and he too was very moved. My sympathies to the family of Chance Phelps and my respects to LtCol Strobl.
