Last week, we lost a beloved leader.
This week, we've lost an icon of a different sort.
Ray Charles was one of the most listenable artists of our time. Covering an incredibly wide range of styles, yet with a style all his own, he appealed to just fans of just about every kind of music there is.
I'm going to listen to the (too few) Ray Charles CD's in my collecton tonight. And I'll raise a toast to him somewhere in the middle of it, I'm sure.
Yet in the midst of our losses this week, I've no doubt that the music will lift my spirits and bolster my heart.
It's a good night to sing the blues.
This week has certainly given me the blues. And who better to listen to than the Great Ray! No brag - just fact - but I have his original records (LPs, remember?) and will reminisce with him tonight.

Ray Charles. A man of great insight and clarity of vision. He mastered the art of giving thru song and music. Cheers.
