This is an LCD Inverter for a Toshiba Satellite laptop computer. It resides in the lid-screen of the computer, immediately below the screen and beind the word "Toshiba" on the bezel.
And without it, the screen projects no luminousity through the LCD pixels. The image is there in data terms, and is only faintly visible in direct sunlight or very bright light into the screen. Translate faintly visible as completely, utterly and totally useless in functional terms.
I just replaced that TAMURA HBL 0220 unit in my Toshiba, and am once again in possession of a working 'puter.
Though I've not been able to post to Smoke on the Water, I've not been wholly without the ability to read and keep up with the news.
More on that, in just a bit. For now, I just thought this status report would suffice.
Jim --
Bob Pirsig once told a story of a piece of technical writing from a ten speed bicycle company that began... "Assembly of Japanese bicycle require great peace of mind."
Glad you're reconnected to the pivot point of the gyre.
